The Facebook News Feed is changing once again. The social media giant is no stranger to modifying the news feed for its users. It has continually evolved since 2006. This time, the social media giant is favoring friends and family.

What’s that mean for businesses? It means that content shared by friends and family members will appear in users feeds first, above content directly shared by business pages.  Per the statement from Adam Mosseri, VP of Product Management, “Facebook was built on the idea of connecting people with their friends and family.”

For businesses, this means building content that is shareable and engaging to users, so that they actually share it with their friends and family.

Based off of their research and user data, Mosseri notes that after friends and family, users come to Facebook for two reasons: to be informed and to be entertained.
